Description
The type 202 is the most popular antique telephone. It set a new level of design, engineering and durability. It is amazing that 1930 technology produced a telephone of this quality & performance. This telephone has an F-1 handset that was used on later production as it is simpler, more durable and produces better sound quality than the earlier E-1.
Subsets "ringer boxes" were required on early desk telephones to house large components such as the ringer mechanism, induction coil and capacitors. Subscribers wanted small telephones requiring little desk space and looked attractive. Subsets were usually fastened to a wall near the telephone. There is plenty of cord to allow this subset to be placed out of view if desired.
The restoration process involves blasting off old paint, priming and painting with coats of automotive spray lacquer. The Bakelite handset is polished on professional machines. The dial is serviced and calibrated on digital equipment. New cords installed as old ones fray and become noisy.
A modern modular line cord allows plugging into jack found in most all homes.
Original leather bottom cover is in good condition.
The telephone dials calls, rings when called and operates like a modern one.
You will be pleased with the beauty and operation of this desirable telephone.
