    The Certigue Mining & Dredging Company operated placer gold dredges on the Certigue River in western Columbia (Department of Choco, District of Tado). The company held title to about 1 million acres of land in the region, containing extensive placer gold deposits. These holdings had been in the possession of the family of one of the organizers of the company since 1731 and were originally made up of grants from the Spanish Crown.
