An Air France Concorde flight certificate signed (by autopen?) by the Air France Chairman of the Board. Features a mid-century modern design with blue-and-white illustration of sky merging into abstract silhouette of the Concorde. Artist signature printed in lower right corner.
Text reads as follows [with added handwritten and/or stamped data in brackets]:
"We take pleasure in certifying that [Bob Liner] / crossed the sound barrier on [AF 053, 1 May 1977] / aboard [Concorde]. (Signed) Chairman of the Board / [ ______ ]."
Measures 9-1/2 x 12-1/2 inches.
Has tape remains from prior mounting both rector and verso, otherwise in very good condition.
A variation of this certificate is included in the Delta Flight Museum collection.
The world’s first scheduled supersonic passenger service began January 21, 1976—British Airways initially flying the aircraft from London to Bahrain and Air France flying it from Paris to Rio de Janeiro. Both airlines added regular service to Washington, D.C., in May 1976 and to New York City in November 1977.
