The Seaton Mountain Electric Light, Heat and Power Company was formed at the turn of the century in Idaho Springs, Colorado (Clear Creek County) to supply steam and electric power to the town of Idaho Springs, and nearby towns including Georgetown in the Clear Creek Canyon, in addition to the many mines, mills and mining camps in the district. The company owned two plants, one in Idaho Springs and one below, three miles east down Clear Creek Canyon; they also owned several miles of water rights on Clear Creek. In the early 1900s, the mining town of Idaho Springs was a boomtown west of Denver. The influx of miners and their families, and resultant mining activity led to the early creation of an extensive water system for the town. Seaton Mountain is a 9,094 foot mountain peak directly north of Idaho Springs, Colorado.
