Description
Up for sale here is a Rega RP3 turntable bundle with cartridge, power supply, stainless steel Rega branded 45 adapter, Rega brand power adapter, and necessary cables. Does not come with a phono preamp.Turntable was bought in 2014 from the now defunct SoundstageDirect.com, as an "Open Box", so it was essentially new when I got it. The site did not mention it having any defects. Came with the Ortofon 2m blue already installed on it. Features include a glass platter and RB303 tonearm.
The Rega TT-PSU 2 Power Supply was bought brand new (0 value). It allows you to switch between 33/45 speeds with just a push of a button, and is advertised to lower the noise floor.
This turntable got a good amount of use the first five or so years I owned it. I was careful to mostly play records I had already cleaned with my Spin Clean Record Washer.
It has remained in the same spot since I've owned it. I made no attempts at modifying it or taking it apart.
Straight from the box getting everything connected I noticed a hum only in the right speaker. I tried connecting it in a different room for troubleshooting purposes but the hum remained.
My knowledge of grounding is limited so you might have a better idea but I learned running a ground cable connected from a back screw of the PSU to the preamp eliminates this hum almost completely. Only if you're listening to quiet music at very high volume would you notice a very faint hum. A ground cable is included.
The only other imperfection of note is the power input in back of the turntable has a crack in the plastic. It's still fully functional, the connection is just noticeably a little looser.
This input won't be necessary as long as you hold on to the TT-PSU 2 external power supply.
If you don't want/need the TT-PSU you are welcome to make me offers that exclude it and I'll be able to give you a better deal.
I do not have the original box. I'll likely be shipping via FedEx. If USPS is any cheaper I will go with them and refund buyer the difference in shipping cost.
Sounds just as good as it did when I bought it. I acquired a vintage Technics turntable for cheap so I no longer have any use for this one.
