Olalla Copper Mining & Smelting Company owned and operated mines and smelters in the South Onkanagan region of southern British Columbia, Canada. The company owned 63 claims covering 2,500 acres in the East Yale Mining District at Olalla, including the town of Olalla (in the Similkameen and Keremeos Valleys). The company also owned the Similkameen & Keremeos Railroad which runs from the mines at Olalla to connections with the Canadian Pacific Railroad and the Great Northern Railroad. These mines were located about 190 miles east of Vancouver in south-central British Columbia. Initial investors who helped organize and fund these mines were businessmen from Paterson, New Jersey (William J. Brewer was the first president, Robert Gaede was company vice president, and Eli Mirandon, secretary). Olalla is an unincorporated settlement in the South Okanagan region of the Southern Interior of British Columbia (near the U. S. border), located southwest of Penticton (the nearest large city) and just north of Keremeos.
