This listing is for a lovely porcelain service plate made by Mottahedeh in the prized TOBACCO LEAF pattern. The design features a small Phoenix bird perched on the colorful leaves of the flowering tobacco plant. There are twenty-seven vibrant colors used and the design is embellished with 22 K gold. Marked "Metropolitan Museum of Art, Mottahedeh" and numbered "68". The pattern is based on the 18th Century original Chinese design made for the European export market and has remained one of the most highly prized designs of the period. Pieces of this pattern are found in the Mount Vernon collection owned by George and Martha Washington. Each Mottahedeh product is highly collected for the quality of design and production.
Measures 10 7/8" in diameter and 1 1/4" high. Weighs 1.7 pounds.
This nice service plate is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. The plates are unsold inventory from our closed retail shop and have never been used.
