For museum exposition. Rare item. The 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade (25th OPDBr, military unit A1126, item B0440) is a brigade-sized military unit of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is based in the village of Gvardiyske, Dnipropetrovsk region.
This brigade is a unique unit of the landing forces of Ukraine — it is the only one capable of parachuting almost in its entirety, together with equipment. For this purpose, it is equipped with armored vehicles intended for landing with a parachute - BMD-1,[1][2] BMD-2,[3][4][5] BTR-D, 2C9 "Nona".
In 1993-2013, parts of the brigade were engaged by Ukraine to carry out international peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the UN.
At the beginning of 2014, the top leadership of the country planned to use the brigade to suppress the Euromaidan, but this intention was not carried out. At the end of February 2014, the intelligence company of the brigade was on training in Crimea, it was blocked there by Russian troops that invaded Crimea, but later it was able to reach the mainland with weapons and equipment. In the conditions of the continuation of Russian aggression against Ukraine and the deployment of Russian formations near the Ukrainian border, parts of the brigade were redeployed to the Donetsk region in the Amvrosiivka region to strengthen the presence of Ukrainian forces near the border. With the beginning of the hot phase of the war in the east in April, when Russian saboteurs captured Slovyansk, Kramatorsk and a number of other cities, units of the brigade took control of the Kramatorsk airport. Subsequently, the fighters of the brigade took part in the battles for Sloviansk, Krasny Liman, in the first battle for DAP. During the build-up of the Ukrainian group at the Luhansk airport, one of the Il-76 military transport planes was shot down on the night of June 14, killing 40 paratroopers of the brigade and the plane's crew. During the summer, units of the brigade took part in heavy battles for Shakhtarsk, unblocking the troops surrounded on the border, liberated Debaltseve, and stormed Savur-Mohyla. In the winter campaign of 2015, the fighters of the brigade took part in battles for the Donetsk airport, Avdiivka. In the Avdiivka region, units of the brigade fought in 2016 as well.
