    Description

    Many turntables produced in the 60s didn't come with a dustcover, this is because high fidelity systems of the day were usually built into furniture. This is one of a very small lot of custom dustcover systems designed for early Empire turntables. Specifically this is optimized to provide a dustcover solution for the 298, 398 and 498 series Empires and Thorens TD124 with 9" arm. I have never liked the sit on top solutions available for Empires. To my mind the advantage of this approach is the dustcover can be used while playing an album  without adding a direct vibration path to the deck since it rests on your shelf not the turntable plinth. The cover pivots on machined aluminum trunnions. The front, sides, back and top are 3/16th acrylic, the corners are made of fumed and lacquered white oak. The dustcover has rubber feet installed that provide adequate space for the turntable cabling.
