Item Description
The Diatone DP-EC5 MKII, released in Japan in 1980 during the "Golden Era" of Japanese audiophile equipment, is a high quality direct-drive fully automatic turntable. The 4-phase 12-pole quartz PLL DC servomotor direct drive mechanism is very smooth, and the heavy platter provides a high inertia with stable rotation. The record size is optically detected, and the needle position and rotation speed are automatically set. This player has a single-chip LSI circuit for rapid and accurate response. Though Diatone turntables from this era do not have a mainstream following outside of Japan, amongst Japan-savvy audiophiles these turntables have a phenomenal reputation for their quality of sound as well as construction.
This particular unit is in very good condition, with some signs of age and wear throughout, including a few scratches and spots, as well as sticker marks on the dust cover (please see photos). This turntable has been thoroughly checked and tested by our professional technician, confirming its flawless operation. Both 33 and 45 settings work perfectly, and the platter rotation is like clockwork.
